I think I may have referred to Amy in a previous post, but for a quick summary:
Amy is a wife to Brandon and a mother to Garry, who is about 19 months old. She was diagnosed with an acute and aggressive form of cancer in July last year and unless a miracle happens, will pass into the arms of her Saviour in a matter of weeks to months - certainly not years.
I've been following her journey for a few weeks now and one thing that I have found is that Amy's situation puts it all in perspective. It highlights the things that really matter and shows the trivialities for what they are. Amy's future is assured; she knows where she is going and she knows who will be there to meet her when she arrives. Her concerns are not in the future, but in the present. As a normal wife and mother, Amy wants to be there for her husband and child. Her worries are for them...how will they cope? Will they be all right? Her plea seems to be for just one more day, one more week. Of course, they and all around them are praying that God will heal her, but their prayer is definitely "Thy Will be done", not "Gimme, gimme, gimme".
It is a reminder that our times are not in our hands, but God's. I can only stand back in awe and wonder at her faith and at the strength she has to carry on. All I ask is that whn it is time for me to go Home, I will be able to do so with the gentleness of spirit and the assurance of faith that Amy displays.
