They must be desperate

Rang Foxtel today to cancel the service.  Pay TV costs an arm and a leg here and we're rapidly running out of limbs.  "Ditch Foxtel" has been lingering around the top of the to do list for about 5 months now.

So, I ring to cancel the service and they offer us two months' service at a *significantly* reduced cost.  Same service, same channels, significant price reduction, kids home on 6 weeks school holidays....hmmm.  Bit of a no-brainer.

Foxtel lives to screen another day...well, 61 days actually.

Big Brother is back.

Original Reality TV

They interviewed Michael Apted on the Today Show this morning.  It would seem that 49 Up was released here on August 3rd.  I can't believe that another 7 years have passed and it is time to catch up with the children of the original documentary in 1964.  I first heard of the series at University and I believe that we saw 21 Up as 28 Up was on the point of being released.  I hope we get to see it sometime.

Quickflix

Right now I am not sure why, but a few weeks ago Mr Bear decided to subscribe to Quickflix and cobbled together a list of DVDs that we'd like to see.  At the moment there are over 80 in the queue and because I love being a bit geeky I've added a typelist to show what we're watching.
Tonight I think we're going to start Batman Begins...how exciting!

Makes me kinda sad

The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney is hosting an exhibition featuring 50 years of television in Australia - and yes, we have only had tv here since October 1956.  On the news the other night they were showing bits and pieces from the exhibition inlcuding...wait for it...Mr Squiggle!  Ian and I couldn't believe that they actually have the real Mr Squiggle on display and it would almost be worth the ticket price just to see him.  Like most Aussie kids, we grew up with Mr Squiggle and Bill the Steamshovel and Rocket and Blackboard "Hurry up" and Gus.  We come from the era of Miss Jane.  Mr Squiggle ran on the ABC for over 40 years and only came to an end in 2001.

It makes me kind of sad to think that our kids will never get to see and enjoy Mr Squiggle.  Maybe they'll bring out a "Best of Mr Squiggle"DVD...I'd buy it, Miss Jane.

Medal Required

The shinier the better.

I have resisted the temptation all day of logging on to see who won Survivor Guatemala.  It has just started now and I don't know who won.

I definitely deserve a medal.

I loved it!

If you haven't seen Love Actually yet, run out this minute and hire it. Mr Bear was sick today and it was our latest DVD from Meteor. We both loved it and I'll be watching it again before it goes back.

Lst night on American Idol, Ryan Seacrest announced that 24 million Amercians had voted in the preceeding 24 hours. That's 5 million more votes than the entire population of Australia.
