It was late in 2003. I was a stay at home mum to two small children. There always seemed to be too much month left over at the end of the pay and I was dreading a return to the workforce. I was looking for something that would enable me to stay home with the kids and still earn an income.
I was idly flipping through a catalogue and saw the promotion on the back. The keys words were enticing: Work from Home! Earn an income around the kids. I did it - you can, too! Our products almost sell themselves!
I knew a consultant from this home based business and I contacted her. We talked about it on the phone, I met with her, looked through all the information and Mister Bear and I discussed it at length. It seemed the answer to our problems. I signed up with our friend and all starry-eyed walked blindly into one of the most harrowing times of my life.
I need to say at the outset that this was not my friend's fault and I, in no way whatsoever, consider her to be at fault for anything that subsequently happened. She was not to blame in any way. The fault lay in the whole structure of this home-based business, and in all such home based businesses. Regrettably this was something that I only discovered after the event. This webpage is devoted to what I wish I'd known before signing on the dotted line in the hope that it may prevent others making the same mistakes I did.
