I think I made reference the other day to my occasional problems with insomnia and the solutions that work for me. I have a couple of DVDs that have never been known to fail in sending me back to sleep and I can't work out why because I love them. The two in question are Star Wars Episode 2 and Star Wars Episode 5. For some reason Attack of the Clones and Empire Strikes Back see me drift off to LaLiLa Land within minutes. I've been known to nod off between the end of the crawl and the opening scene.
Mister Bear knows when I've had a bad night by what's on the DVD player when he wakes up. If it's Episode 2 or 5 he knows it has been a bad one.
Now, like I said I *love* those films (all six actually) AND I beat Mister Bear at Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, so it's not like I fall asleep because I'm bored. I'm not. Persoanlly, I think it is psychosomatic. I've come to (subconsciously) associate the films with sleep, so they have the desired affect.
But spare a thought for poor Mister Bear who's been known to see the opening segment of both DVDs every night for a week.
And don't tell George Lucas.
